Leaders never stop learning

How often have you heard someone say that they have many years experience, or a consulting company say they have a combined two hundred years experience ?

I suggest that this is of no use if that experience is not complimented by continuous learning.

In a family business, as in any other, fresh ideas and innovation are vital drivers to sustaining and improving performance. Some older family members don't like it when I suggest they get out and attend industry seminars and business updates along with reading and following trends on Linkedin or twitter feeds.

I came across the following quote some time ago. I don't know the source. (It might be Ben Franklin)

'To excel as a coach and leader you must be a good teacher: To excel as a teacher, leader and coach, you must remain a student who keeps learning, You must not die at 25.'
